Tips for planning a Wonderful Last Minute Wedding for This Summer

by Kate on May 4, 2009

If you know you want to get married, and this summer would be a good time for you to tie the knot, but you haven’t spent much time planning your dream wedding, consider this:

You can do it with some
1) Flexibility
2) A good wedding site
3) An experienced event planner

First, you must decide to just go for it.

Don’t worry about coordinating all the different factors, including all the family members and friends (which is always a tough task, even with a year’s notice. All the important people will come once you decide to do it). Just pick one thing that you know you will love, (I recommend finding either a place that is spectacular or a caterer you know and trust because they have the biggest impact on the experience and the budget), and be flexible. Know that there is more than one way to have a spectacular wedding.

Find a venue where you feel happy and that has a good reputation. The staff will have plenty of experience hosting wonderful special events. They should have the skill and knowledge to create a lovely experience.

Planning your wedding should be fun! Let an experienced wedding planner help you. Talk to her (or him) about what you like and let the planner do what you don’t want to do or don’t have time to do. If you have a good planner, you will work with quality vendors who can customize their services to your style and you will have a smooth, elegant event that is easy, enjoyable and reflects what is most important to you. I recommend that you find your event planner through a personal recommendation because her/his personality and sensibilities should match yours.

There are many “right” ways to create a beautiful wedding.

And, once you have made the key decisions (site, date, invitation list and caterer), delegate some part of the planning to your friends. They will enjoy being part of the excitement and it’s fun to work together with the people who are close to you. If everyone has clear directions and timelines, the process is a pleasure too.

Planning your wedding can take as much or as little time as you have. Remember, stay focused on the big picture—you found the right person and you and your family and friends have something to celebrate!
